A poor display from The Saddlers meant that they left Highbury empty-handed from a 2-0 loss.
Fleetwood took the lead on the 12th minute when a Mackenzie Hunt cross was fed to Shaun Rooney, who fired his header into the bottom left corner. A quickfire second was to come when another exquisite cross from Hunt was turned in by James Bolton. Just before the half-hour mark, Fleetwood came near to a third when Ryan Graydon hit a header wide. Crosses continued to be Fleetwood’s strength when a corner was swung to Bolton, who headed just over.
The Saddler's first effort came when Liam Gordon fed in Albert Adomah, who fired straight at the goalkeeper. Straight after halftime, Liam Gordon came close when his effort flew just over. Walsall were rejuvenated in the second half and kept knocking on the door. The closest they came was when Ethan Wheatley, who was making his first appearance for the club, hit a well-saved effort in the 61st minute.
The pain continued for Walsall in the 85th minute when Danny Johnson hit an effort that went over the bar. Walsall next play when they face Salford at home this Saturday, the 1st of February.
