Tigers maul the bulls
Today the 20th of August Afc Mansfield and Worksop Town contested a FA cup Preliminary round tie under the sun.
Worksop started the better when Paul Green had a effort tipped behind for a corner. The resulting corner finding the head of Danny Burns who’s effort rattled the bar and dropped out of danger.
Worksop took a well deserved lead when a cross took a bounce and landed to one time National league north player Liam Hardy who volleyed home.
It was 2 minutes later when the ball fell to former Harrogate town player Liam Hardy just outside the box who elegantly lobbed the goalkeeper for his and Worksops 2nd.
It was almost 3 on the 30th minute when Aleksanders Startcenko had a shot that was palmed clear by Hugo Warhurst in the home goal.
Mansfield’s only chance of the half came when Alex Hardwick was set free one on one with the keeper only for his shot to be hit straight at Sebastian Malkduwski in the away goal.
The second half got off to the perfect start for the tigers when new signing Liam Hughes got his head onto a free kick to headed the visitors into a 3 goal lead ad well as securing his first competitive goal.
It was almost 4 when Hardy side footed just past the post.
The game slowly came to a conclusion with Aleksanders Startcenko hitting over for the tigers.
Worksop will now have to wait till Monday to find out there opponents in the 1st qualifying round.
