Unlucky Chasetown beaten in roulette penalties.
Today (3rd of October) on a wet day with rain that did not stop trickling down Chasetown drew 1-1 with a very strong step two opposition Afc Telford only to leave the 369 home fans in attendance dejected by Oli Hayward blazing his penalty over the bar.
The game started very peacefully with Chasetown dominating the possession for the first 25 minutes but having no clear chances
The first major chance of the game came on the 29th minute when Henry Cowan shot narrowly wide.
Chasetown eventually took the first half lead on the stroke of half time when ex Walsall player Joey Butlin stroked a free kick into the bottom corner for the hosts to give them a 1-0 lead.
In the second half Telford dominated play. They were also given an extra man advantage when striker turned defender Ryan Wynter was adjudged by the ref to have committed a red card offence. From the resulting free kick James Hardy lashed over. On the 74th minute debutant keeper Elias Rouse capped of a excellent debut by turning a Telford shot round the corner of the post. Telford did eventually get there deserved equalizer when 6 minutes from time former man city youth player Hardy smashed a shot in off the crossbar to make the score 1-1. Two minutes later they hit the crossbar again but this time it went over instead of bulging the back of the net.
When the game ended it went straight to penalties. The first penalty was taken by Chasetowns player coach Kris Taylor who calmly slotted into the bottom right corner. Telfords first penalty was shot high into the right side of the goal by ex Trammere rover’s player Lee Vaughan.
Jack Langston and former football league player Aaron Williams shot the second penalties for both teams into the bottom right corner
The third penalty for both teams were stroked into the bottom left corner by Ben Lund and former Walsall player Hardy.
The fourth penalty for Chasetown was hit into the bottom left by former reserve player Danny O’Callaghan. Telfords fourth was hit into the bottom right by Man City youth product Dominic McHale
Disaster struck when Hayward struck his penalty over the bar. Telford took advantage of this and clinched the win when ex Brighton and hove under 21 player Jordan Davies struck the ball into the top right corner.
