Chasetown vs Stamford 24.10.20

Terrific second half gives Chasetown 2-2 draw


After a two week break the scholars came back with a 2-2 draw against a undefeated Stamford.


Stamford dominated the first half and took the lead when former Supporters Player of the Year award winner, Rob Morgan, flicked home a corner that was headed into his path on the 6th minute.


They extended their lead when Curtis Pond hauled a player down in the penalty area to give away a penalty. The penalty was stroked home on the 18th minute by the Daniels’ number 8, Morgan, for his and Stamford’s second of the game.


Chasetown came out all guns blazing in the second half and continued this throughout the rest of the game.


The home side could have scored within the 48th minute, but instead the boys in blue blazed the ball over the bar.


Chasetown did get their well-deserved goal when Michael Armstrong pulled down Liam Kirton in the 65th minute. Up stepped two-time top goal scorer Jack Langston to slot the penalty home and halve the deficit.


Chasetown came agonizingly close to equalizing the score when Joey Butlin saw a shot come off the base of the post.


Chasetown’s deserved second goal did come in the 85th minute, when Langston hit a cross into the back of the net to send the fans into raptures.


The visitors put up a late fight though. There most notable shot being a Tom Siddons shot that came off the bar then fell to another Daniels’ player only for Pond to make a brilliant save.
