Doncaster rally to hold off and surprise Huddersfield


Today the 16th of July Doncaster faced up to Huddersfield on a warm summers day which was delayed by 35 minutes due to the heat.


It was the terriers who started on the front foot once we did get going with there most notable chance being a Sorba Thomas corner that was headed on only to be headed over by a vital touch from a home defender.


Huddersfield knocked on the door again in the 20th minute when Josh Koroma got his head onto a cross only for it to drop narrowly wide.


Another chance came for the terriers in the 36th minute when Thomas floated a cross in that Danny Ward could not quite connect with.


Doncaster’s only chance of the half came when trialist c shot narrowly shot wide at the near post.


Overall Huddersfield dominated play but lacked the finishing touch in the first half.

Huddersfield came out in the second half with a bang when Tom Lees crossed the ball only for no one to be in the right position to smash home.


Doncaster came close in the 50th minute when Tommy Rowe smashed a shot wide of the goal when well placed.


The mood in the second half changed when Huddersfield made 9 changes during the 2nd half water break giving there b team players a run out.


The changes almost worked instantly when Danny grant was given the ball just inside the box only for his chance to take a slight deflection and land on top of the net.


A penalty was awarded to Doncaster in the 68th minute when George miller was hauled down by Loick Ayina in the box. all that was left was for trialist C to step up and convert to the left of substitute goalkeeper Gio Bellagambi to give the Donnys a 1-0 lead.


Huddersfield almost levelled on the 73rd minute when Ben Jackson went on a marauding run only for him to be crowded out by players in red when trying to shoot.


Another chance went begging for Huddersfield when Shane Maroodza shot narrowly wide of the goal only for it to be flagged offside.


It was eventually to be to much for the visiting side as they failed to recover and eventually fell to a 1-0 loss.
