Lichfield equal best ever fa cup run by cruising past Evesham United


Today the 21st of August Evesham played Lichfield in the fa cup preliminary round


Lichfield got off to the best start possible when straight from kick off the ball was fed up to debutant Reggie smith who slotted the ball home with one of his first touches for the club


They kept the lead until 20 minutes into the half Charlie Jonson crossed a pearl of a ball that flew into the top corner


Keeping in pattern Lichfield took the lead after another 20 minutes elapsed when ex Chasetown player Luke childs volleyed a cleared corner into the net to make the score at half-time 2-1


On the hour mark Lichfield came close to extending the lead when Reggie smith had a shot expertly saved by the home team’s goalkeeper


Evesham was thrown a lifeline to equalise when Felix Miles was hauled down in the box. The penalty was expertly dispatched by returning player Lance Smith


Evesham came close to taking the lead when Sean Brain was sent through on goal only for the city goalkeeper to get to the ball before him


Lichfield regained the lead in the 70th minute when Jack Edwards smashed the ball into the net from a tight angle


evesham‘s day went from best to worst when there captain Matt Williams was sent off


The scoring did not finish then because in the 90th minute Edwards hit the back of the net again to make the final score 4-2 to Lichfield City
