Today the 1st of may was a big day for hashtag united as a club as they trialed a new membership scheme and continued the hunt to find there new player.
The day was situated with the remaining hopefuls being divided into 4 teams and playing it out amongst each other in a series of inter academy friendlys that lasted 40 minutes per game.
The day started with the orange team playing the black team.
The First chance came on the 4th minute via the orange team when a nice marauding run down the right found Eddie cooper who beat the offside trap but narrowly slotted the ball the wrong side of the near post.
The orange team carved another chance when Thomas sioninchuck found himself on the ball but his shot was well saved by the black team goalkeeper with the follow up being blocked by keiran Simpson Cameron.
The oranges showed there dominance again when chuck’s interception fell to Reece Antoine dacosta who cut back for Eddie Cooper who’s shot went narrowly wide.
On the 19th minute another run down the right by Reece Antoine dacosta presented a great chance for Eddie cooper who failed to control it.
On the 25th minute another chance came the oranges way when the ball came across into the box from the left but Luka Kapadias touch let him down.
Oranges dominance was finally shown on the 34th minute when season 2 participant Luka Kapadia blasted the ball into the bottom left corner from just outside the box.
Another chance for the orange team came in the 38th minute when Chaco Barnett glanced wide when aiming for the far post.
Overall oranges were by far the better team and deserved the win.
The second game was silver vs greens.
Silver team flew out the blocks when benny fiadzomor blazed a shot from kick off over the bar.
Overall the silver team dominated but struggled to make clear cut chances as the game finished 0-0.
The 2nd round of fixtures began with black team vs silver team.
In the 3rd minute benny fiadzomor wasted another glorious opportunity when slicing the ball wide from 10 yards out.
Silver team again had a great chance on the 11th minute which jake Lindsay struck straight down the throat of the keeper.
Black team did have there chances though notably in the 13th minute when Brad Bunker volleyed just over the net.
The silver team came again on the 21st minute through Jake Lindsays shot across goal that was saved by the keeper with the rebound poked wide by Carl Mendez.
The deadlock was broken in the 23rd minute through a route one ball being played up for former Palmers fc player Callum lee Palmer to easily slot into an empty net to make it 1-0 black team.
Black team extended there lead when they again scored on the counter attack via Palmer stroking the ball across to next generation academy player, Leon sterling to blast home.
Silver team did have there chances most notably Liam mulligan thrashing just past the post.
Orange vs green was up next.
Oranges started the game with a string of corners one of which, a header from Bryan amtambo was blocked wide.
Orange did take the lead however when dacosta took the ball down and passed to Luka Kapadia to slot home and put them 1-0 up.
They immediately scored again in the 6th minute with a long range screamer from former may and baker player Eddy Cooper to make it 2-0 oranges.
Greens did win a penalty though in the 9th minute through Former heybridge swift’s player Joel Older being felled on the edge of the box he dusted himself off and fired the ball into the net from the spot to make it 2-1.
Greens almost equalised in the 21st minute but orange team was saved by the glove of there goalkeeper orange team then went straight up the other end only to be denied by a great save from the green goalkeeper.
Greens were then denied in the 24th minute by an outrageous save by Harrison Cole in the orange net.
Oranges did score a 3rd though with a minute to play when Canvey Island academy player Chaka Barnett capitalised on a lack of concentration in defence to ensure the orange team won 3-1.
Round 3 kicked off with Orange vs silver.
Silver team made a great start when in the 1st minute Kyle Mendez curled home a free kick to give them a shock 1-0 lead.
The silver team doubled there lead in the 9th minute when Jake Lindsay curled in a free kick which was deflected into the net by an orange head for an own goal to make it 2-0 silver.
Orange almost got one back but sioninchucks shot was saved by the goalkeeper.
Orange team did have there chances most notably Barnett hitting a shot just over straight after that dacosta hit a freekick just over.
Barnett had another chance to score for the orange team but his shot was put behind by the keeper.
Lindsay also had a shot saved in the 27th minute.
Silver team extended there lead in the 34th minute when former Hemel Hempstead player Benny Fiadzomor was slipped through on goal to slot home and make it 3-0 silver team.
Less then a minute later silver scored again when Jake Lindsay slid home his second and the teams fourth of the game to make the final result 4-0 silver.
Black vs green
Black team dominated the game with there best chance coming in the 15th minute when a cross was flashed wide.
A minute later Palmer saw the keeper off his line and tried an audacious lob that went narrowly wide.
A minute after that they were almost ahead again this time it was Sam black holly who thrashed wide.
In the 23rd minute the black team came even closer when bunker came a whisker away from slotting into the net.
Disaster struck for the black team when Jamie Ovington was sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity. The subsequent free kick clipped the wall and fell into the grasp of the goalkeeper.
Black team did eventually take the lead 4 minutes from time when a defensive mistake allowed Oliver Barry-Steele to take a shot that crept in the bottom left corner to give the blacks a 1-0 lead
There was still time for the green team to win a free kick and chaos descended from there when it was swung in by Chong yu and missed by the keeper allowing Zack Hockney to slot into an open net to level the score and secure a 1-1 draw
