Rampant tags kick off pre season with a bang
On Saturday the first of August Essex senior league team hashtag United started their pre season with a home friendly match against thurlow nunn side Frenford.
The match was played with the traditional 2 45 minute halves but hashtag fielded a completely different eleven after half time to make sure that everyone had their time to impress manager Jay devereux aka devs and his backroom team.
The first half eleven included many old faces playing for the team in black and yellow including Bertu Seyhan (who had unsuccessfully tried for the team last season)and the return of the “scariest man in football” the 42 year old goalkeeper ( yes you read right 42) Jamie Jackson aka jacko who a year previous was ruled out of action with a fractured tibia.
Hashtag United fired out of the starting blocks and would have been 1-0 up within the 7th minute if it were not for the decisive toe of the frenford number 2 who managed to divert a Joshua osude cross just wide. If it was not for hashtags dire shooting they could have had the game dead and buried within the first 10 minutes. A perfect example was when Harry honesty aka triple h blazed the ball over the bar. It was that high that the only thing preventing it from going out of the ground was a small piece of netting put up for such occasions.
One of frenfords very few chances came when their number 10 lashed the ball wide in the 11th minute.
The deadlock was finally broken just before the half hour mark when 18 year old Jack Martin Floated a ball into the path of striker George smith who effortlessly placed it over the diving keeper only for the trialest Bertu Seyhan to put it into the net and put the tags 1-0 up.
Their lead did not last for long though when, against the run of play Frenford scored through their number 10 arrowing the ball past the diving Jacko.
Hashtag had a beautiful opportunity to go in at half time with the lead but it resulted in triple h smashing the ball wide from 12 yards.
In the second half there was the notable return of Jesse Waller-Lassen who was returning from a lengthy break from football.
Straight from the off hashtag were in control with Albie Keith hitting a shot wide within 15 seconds. Hashtag did eventually take the lead when Neil “Richo” Richmond nestled a shot into the roof of the net. Hashtag should have extended their lead 10 minutes later when Gregory had the net gaping but instead shot it straight down the keepers midriff. Before you knew it hashtag lengthened there lead to 3-1 right on the hour mark with Kris Newby arrowing a shot into the bottom right corner from just outside the box. There lead could of been lengthened even further had Richo found the target in the 70th minute.10 minutes later Jesse should have done better with a shot from outside the box that fizzed wide. Hashtag did get the 4th goal that they deserved which unexpectedly came from a shot from Gregory that nutmegged the keeper and flew into the net in the 86th minute. The scoring was not finished there when Albie Keith benefited from a howler from the keeper who allowed the ball to skip through his hands and into the net.
As a whole hashtag played very well and on another day could have scored even more than the five they did score.
