Step 5 Lichfield make good impression of themselves despite being beaten 3-1 by step 3 Nuneaton
Today Lichfield played Nuneaton in front of the BBC cameras.
The first half was played at a slow pace with not many chances coming from either side.
The only chance of note came on the half-hour mark when Max Dixon was one on one with the goal only for Tony Breeden in the Nuneaton goal to pull off a save.
The second half started with a bang when 10 minutes in James Beeson pulled off 3 wonderful saves in quick succession to keep Lichfield in the game.
Lichfield had a great chance to lead when 67 minutes in Jack Edwards shot over from a corner when he should have done better.
The deadlock was broken in the 74th minute when Ryan Edmunds arrowed a shot into the corner from outside the box to give borough the lead
There lead was doubled when under 21 player Louis baker, who was playing on the same team as his dad Carl, navigated a long-range shot into the goal.
Lichfield was given a glimmer of hope when they were awarded a penalty. Up stepped Max Black, who had already scored once in the FA cup this season, to put the ball into the bottom corner and halve the deficit.
Nuneaton borough’s 2 goal lead was restored just before the end of the game when former Bristol Rover’s player Jordan Goddard got on the end of a cross and diverted it home.
