Scotland make tournament comeback 14.06.21

For the first time in 33 years scotland competed in the european championships against Czech Republic


Scotland started on the front foot with John Mcginn having a shot blocked.


Czech Republic had a chance in the 15th minute but David Marshall made a strong save.


In the 17th minute Scotland came forward with a cross from Andy Roberson only for Lindon dykes to hit narrowly wide.


Scotland came agonisingly close when Christie fed in Robertson who was denied by the hand of the keeper


Czech republic took the lead in the 41st minute when Patrick Schick headed a cross into the net to make it 1-0


The score at halftime finished 1-0 czeck republic with Mctominany having a claim for a penalty on the stroke of half time. Scotland made a first half change with Che Adams coming on for Ryan Christie.


At the start of the second half the Czeck republic had a shot saved by the stoung palms of the keeper.


Scotland rattled the bar seconds later.not long after that a czeck defender almost looped the ball over his keeper only for the keeper to save his blushes.


Czeck republic scored on the counter when Patrick Schick scored an audacious effort from just in his own half.


Scotland almost pulled one back when Stuart Armstroung’s shot took a deflection and looped onto the top of the net.


From the free kick the resultant shot was well saved by the keeper.


Another save was forced in the 65th minute when Lindon dykes hit a shot on target.


Another sub was made when Ryan frazer and Callum Mcgregor came on for Jack Hendry and Stuart Armstroung.


Czeck republic made there first set of changes on the 71st minute when Adam Hlozec and Matej Vyrdra came on for Jakub Jankto and Lukas Masopust.


Scotland made there final set of subs when James Forrestt and Kevin Nisbet came on for stephen O'donnell and Lyndon Dykes.


James Forrestt came close when his shot was deflected over.


Czeck Republic made 2 changes when Petr Sevik and Michael Krmencik came on for Vladimir Darida and double goalscorer Patrick Schick.


It could have been 3 was it not for David Marshall saving a Komenchick shot.


The score finished 2-0 czeck republic leaving scotland fans dejected.
