Tamworth score three goals in five minutes to defeat St Ives 4-2
Today the 26th of September Tamworth beat St Ives from Cambridgeshire in a game that was closer then the score line indicated.
The first half was a very dull affair with the only highlight being Thomas Tonks Rory Delap like throw ins that the attack struggled to convert into chances.
The game finally came to life in the 61st minute when the ex England under 20 player Marc Richards nodded home from a corner for St Ives. There lead did not last for long though as Tamworth went straight to the other half and earned themselves a penalty by a foul on Tonks. Captain Ryan Beswich made no mistake from the spot sending the keeper the wrong way.
The lambs came very close in the 73rd minute when a cross pinballed around the 18 yard box. St Ives also had a few chances to take the lead most notably a cross that was blocked by a man in red.
All of the action took part in the last five minutes. It started in the 87th minute by St Ives finally reclaiming there lead when a cross-travelled along the floor to Peterborough academy graduate Benjamin Seymour-Shove who slotted home.
Again Tamworth went straight up the other end and should have scored when Joseph Magunder could only flick his shot onto the bar. They did not have to wait for long though as ex Derby County player Jordan Gough had a shot from just outside the box nestle into the goal.
With the score level going into added time a shot from a tight angle was tipped onto the St Ives post by there goalkeeper Martin Conway into the path of ex Aston villa and Wolves (to name a few of the clubs he has professionally been on the books of) player Jordan Graham to make the score 3-2 Tamworth.
The goals did not end there though when Ghanaian Edmund Hotter committed a foul that saw him receive his second yellow and subsequently a red card. From the free kick ex Birmingham youth player Shaquille McDonald struck the ball under the wall and into the goal to make the score end 4-2 to Tamworth
